Maybe you watch a lot of movies, and you sometimes ask yourself that what am I gaining from watching these movies?

Many a time, we think to our selves that watching movies are a complete waste of time. Personally, I did think at a point that watching movies is like patronising the business of others while they make me lazy.

But then, I sat down to ponder carefully then I came to the realisation that there are some hidden benefits of watching benefits that you might not realise.

Movies are an avenue to learn a lot of things. Speaking from experience, I learn a lot about the culture of other nations as I watch movies from those countries.

Personally, I also pick up a lot of vocabulary while watching films. I always check up words I don’t understand in the dictionary and they in turn form my bank of vocabulary.

We also tend to learn on other fields of studies. For example, while watching ‘Breaking Bad’ series, I got to learn so much about Heart Cancer since the lead character ‘Walter White’ suffered from it.

So even though I didn’t seat to read any book about heart cancer, I learnt it just by watching the movie.

Throught movies, I have learnt how drug cartels in Mexico, Columbia, among other places work — I got to learn this while watching Narcos, El Chapo, Queen of the South, etc.

You’ve had a tough day at work or at school and it made you all stressed up. There could be a lot of ways to relieve stress but one of the ways is through watching movies.

Movies mostly require total focus — focusing on the movie makes you to forget about all your life problems for the few minutes that you spend watching the film.

Movies like Taare zameen par which focuses on “Dyslexia” beautifully shows why some childrens have difficulties in studying..before I watched this movie even I didn’t use to get why some children don’t study or don’t understand what they study and even I used to believe that they just don’t want to study..but the this movie made me realise that I was wrong.

It allows us to visually step into the boots of actors and experience what they are going through.
